Wilma Joy Shed passed away in Holdenville on Tuesday afternoon, January 19, 2016, at the age of 87 years.
Wilma was the daughter of James Grafton Morrow & Orah (Jackson) Morrow, born on November 20, 1928, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in the Moss community, graduating Moss High School in 1946. She lived for a short while in California, then returned to Oklahoma. She lived in Holdenville and worked for twenty-six years as Office Manager for Chesnutt Lumber Company, then moved to Wyoming, where she worked for sixteen years in Lysite as Office Manager for Moncrief Oil Company, before returning to Holdenville.
She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, where she was a member of Women's Auxiliary and over the years taught Sunday School classes of various ages. She attended First Baptist Church for a brief time before her health failed. She loved attending church, she loved to sing, and very much enjoyed being outdoors, especially playing softball. More than anything, she loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James & Orah Morrow; her sister, Reba Stanley; two brothers-in-law, David Brooks and Leonard Taylor; one sister-in-law, Rose Morrow.
She is survived by four sons: Larry Shed (Kailee Norwood) of Colorado Springs CO, Gene Shed (Carla) of Holdenville, Garland Shed of Holdenville, and Monte Shed of Greeley, CO; nine grandchildren: Matt Shed (Danea) of Glenpool, Jeremy Shed (Leslie) of Holdenville, Kevin Shed (Anna) of Glenpool, Amy Shed of Holdenville, Jamason Shed of Omaha NB, Justin Shed (Kati) of Edmond, Mitchell Gosey (Alicia) of Holdenville, Erica Shed of Denver CO, and Morgan Gosey of Holdenville; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, James Morrow of Holdenville, and four sisters: Peggy Brooks of Seattle WA, Wynema Nalley of Holdenville, Marquetta Vyce of Fort Worth TX and Monte Taylor of Stigler; one brother-in-law, Gene Stanley of Corpus Christy TX; numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 23, 2016, 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Holdenville, and Wilma will be laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Russell Payne will officiate. Pallbearers will be Wilma's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Nalley, Eric Morrow, and Gene Stanley.
Viewing and visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21.
