Obituary

William Stephenson "Boots" Martin, 80, of Lamar, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025. Born on August 29, 1944, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to James Alfred Martin and Florene (Harwell) Martin, Boots lived a life filled with kindness, adventure, and a deep love for his family and friends.

Boots attended grade school in Lamar and graduated from Moss High School in 1962. He furthered his education at East Central University for a year. He married Janice Skipworth October 15th, 1965. They had 3 sons Mike, Randy and Keith. Boots had numerous jobs throughout his life, he worked in the oilfield and was a union carpenter.

He was a man of many interests, enjoying the simple pleasures in life. Boots cherished spending time with loved ones, sharing stories, and making new friends wherever he went. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding solace in the pursuit of deer and the thrill of fishing for catfish. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found comfort and joy in attending church and celebrating his love for Jesus. He was a member of the Free Holiness Church in Lamar, Oklahoma for many years.

Boots is survived by his son, Keith Martin, and daughter-in-law, Kacey, of Greeley, Colorado; his brother, James Martin, and sister-in-law, Sherri, of Choctaw, Oklahoma; and numerous other beloved family members, including Stephen and Tasha Matthews of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Cameron and Katy Martin of Holdenville, Oklahoma; Bubba Martin of Piedmont, Oklahoma; Machala Martin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Sarah Martin of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and Miranda Martin of Hydro, Oklahoma

Boots will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering spirit will forever be cherished.

Funeral Services were held on Friday January 24, 1:00pm at the Lamar Baptist Church in Lamar, Oklahoma, with Rev. Marla Chesser officiating.

Pallbearers were Jami Skipworth, Keith Martin, Cameron Martin, Bubba Martin, and Stephen Matthews.

Honorary Pallbearers were Dale Gann, Lloyd Cross, and Jimmie Jett.
