William LeRoy 'Bill' West passed away in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the age of 91 years.
Bill was the son of William & Amelda (Cross) West, born on December 5, 1925, in East Orange, New Jersey, where he was brought up and attended schools. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II, from 1943 until 1946. He married Betty Lou McCoin on August 11, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They lived for seven years in New Jersey, then returned to Oklahoma in 1953, where Bill worked five years in oilfield supply, then put in 28 years working as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Ada, from 1958 until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ada.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William & Amelda West, and his daughter, Candace Louise 'Candy' West.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Betty Lou McCoin West, of the home; his son, Richard William 'Bill' West, and grandson John William West, both of Lufkin TX; his sister, Beverly Ryan of Sarasota FL; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, February 4, 2017, with interment following in the Holdenville Cemetery.
