Wanda Mae Postoak passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday morning, February 4, 2015, at the age of 82 years.
Wanda was the daughter of John & Nancy (Harjo) Beaver, born on July 28, 1932, in Hughes County, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in the Yeager community. She married Lyman Postoak, and with the exception of a short time in Dallas, Texas, they lived in various parts of Oklahoma, including Holdenville, Yeager, Sasakwa, Oklahoma City, Wetumka, and Tulsa.
Wanda was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed watching cowboy movies and playing all kinds of games like Yahtzee, Dominoes, Connect Four, and Bingo. She was the 'Bingo Queen', seemed to always be on a winning streak, and she absolutely loved the game. She was an enthusiastic sports fan and liked basketball, football, and even hockey. One of her favorite things was getting her hair and nails done. She loved listening to Elvis, she was one of his biggest fans ever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Nancy Beaver; her husband, Lyman Postoak Sr., in 1986; one son, Jimmy Postoak, in 1995; one granddaughter, Cheyna Walters, and one great great granddaughter, Allison Love Burchett; two sisters, Rebecca Postoak Wood and Tomi Rae Postoak.
She is survived by eight children: Tressia July of Checotah, Lyman Postoak Jr. of Lexington, Johnny Postoak, Jamie Postoak, Reta July (Randy), all of Tulsa, Nancy Roberts of Wewoka, Carol Postoak of Tulsa, and Paula Postoak of Wetumka; 29 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; three special friends: Maxine Harjo of Wetumka, Linda Hinshaw of Tulsa, and Ann Dover of Tulsa; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 7, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Salt Creek United Methodist Church, and Wanda will be laid to rest in the Harjo Family Cemetery. Rev. Al Pulver is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Wanda's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Randy July, Lyman Postoak Jr., Johnny Postoak, and Jamie Postoak.
