Wanda Ruth Mooney passed away at her home in Holdenville on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the age of 91 years.
Wanda was the daughter of David Chance Weeks and Eva Jane (Simpson) Weeks,
the fifth of their ten children. She was born on June 30, 1931, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and was brought up all over the state, and in various parts of Missouri and Arkansas before the family settled in Armona, California in 1947. Wanda was married to Elgin D. Mooney in Laton, California on December 20, 1950, and they lived in the San Joaquin Valley of California for more than 20 years before moving to Holdenville, Oklahoma, their home since 1971. Wanda was an accomplished seamstress and worked for a while at Seamprufe in Holdenville. She was a quilter, too, and operated Mooney's Quilting along with her husband, while also assisting him at the Kerr-McGee service station he owned and operated for many years on North Hinckley Street in Holdenville. They attended the First Church of God in Holdenville. Wanda was a true homemaker, and her family was the light of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, David & Eva Weeks; her husband of 60 years, Elgin D. Mooney, on October 3, 2010; five brothers: Alvin Weeks, Kenneth Weeks, Jim Weeks, William Weeks, and David Weeks; three sisters: Sylvia Weeks Chin, Faye Weeks Williamson, and Joann Weeks Brown; two half-sisters, Ola Mae Holley and Alta Hall; her son-in-law, Henry Clark.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Lynn Mooney of Tulsa; two daughters, Patsy Mooney and Linda Clark, both of Holdenville; three grandchildren: Richard Mooney, Carie Clark, and David Clark; one sister, Evelene Weeks Cummins of Kauai HI; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, 10:30am at First Church of God of Holdenville, and Wanda was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery, with Rev. Josh Kespelher officiating.
