Vincent Johnson Harjo passed away in Wewoka on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the age of 62 years.
Vincent was the son of Clemmie Harjo, Sr. & Stella Mae (George) Harjo, born on July 18, 1951, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He graduated Holdenville High School with the class of 1969, attended Okmulgee Tech and Tulsa Welding School, and in later years attended Wes Watkins Technology Center.
He lived in Tulsa for several years and worked as a welder for Borg-Warner, then moved to Holdenville in the mid 1980s and was employed for ten years as a welder for Tank Oil Company in Seminole. He worked nine years in maintenance for Wewoka Indian Health Services.
He was married to Liz Johnson for only three months before she passed away.
Vincent attended Many Springs Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a youth. He liked to fish and camp, attend family reunions, and he liked cars.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Liz Johnson Harjo; his parents, Clemmie & Stella Harjo; one brother, Clemmie Harjo Jr.
He is survived by two brothers, Tommy Harjo and Virgil Harjo, both of Holdenville, and one sister, Donna Harjo of Wewoka; four aunts: Nora Tiger, Mary Felicioni, Nellie Baldwin, all of Holdenville, and Lucille Harrison of Seminole; one uncle, Henry Factor, of Holdenville; numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends, including two very special friends, Jean Ann of Ada and Debbie of Wewoka.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Vincent will be laid to rest in the Harjo Family Cemetery east of Holdenville. Rev. Jimsey Harjo is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Gabe George, Brian Factor, Stan Factor, Leo Fish Jr., William George Jr., and Harper Givens. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Factor, Leon McPerryman, Benny Hester, Carl Renfro, Mike Johnson, Dean Goforth, and Clemmie George.
