Victor Bear passed away at his home in Holdenville on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the age of 53 years.
Victor was the son of Wilson & Betty (Franks) Bear, born on August 26, 1966, in Claremore, Oklahoma. His early childhood was spent in Tulsa until the family moved to Holdenville in 1977. In 1978, they moved into the house where Victor lived for his entire adult life. After graduating Holdenville High School, he worked for the Muscogee Creek Nation Child Care Services and for WalMart in Ada, and for the past several years he'd worked for the Seminole Nation. His passion was helping and encouraging children and youths, and he devoted much of his time to coaching and mentoring scores of area young people. He was a member of First Indian Baptist Church of Holdenville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Bear and Betty Bear Taylor; his infant son, Baylor; two infant brothers, Jimmy and Eastman, and one infant sister, Brenda.
He is survived by one brother, Edward Bear, and one sister, Loretta Bear, both of the home; two nieces, Amanda Kanuho (Jordan) of Tulsa, and Rebekah Roeber (Phillip) of Tulsa; one nephew, Cory Jimboy (Jada) of Pawnee; two great nieces, Olivia Jimboy and Madison Jimboy; two great nephews, Kyle Jimboy and Caleb Jimboy; half brother Eddie Gooden (Carol) of Holdenville; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Victor was laid to rest at Cedar River Cemetery in Holdenville, with Rev. Mike Deer officiating. Pallbearers were Jordan Kanuho, Cory Jimboy, Phillip Roeber, Chris Franks, Norman Franks, and Shane Phillips.
