Tonya Latice Roberts-Smothers passed away in Holdenville on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the age of 43 years.
Tonya was the daughter of Jimmie Dean Roberts & Audrey (Blaze) Roberts, born on August 7, 1972, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Oklahoma City, until the family moved to Holdenville in 1983 when Tonya was eleven years old. She graduated Holdenville High School in 1990, and attended Langston University. She was married to Rodney Smothers on December 2, 2012, in Norman, Oklahoma. She worked as Corrections Officer for CCA at the Earl Davis Correctional Center in Holdenville.
Tonya loved listening to music and traveling. The joy of her life was spending time with her family. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Roberts, stepfather Emmitt Elbert, and her grandparents.
She is survived by her mother, Audrey Elbert, of Holdenville; her husband, Rodney Smothers, of the home; her daughter, Alisha Sanders of Holdenville; her son, Isaiah Gutter of the home; her granddaughter, Mylisha Allen of Holdenville; four stepchildren: Jaclyn Smothers, Roderick Smothers, Sharquies Smothers, and Rodney Smothers Jr., all of Memphis TN; two sisters, Donna Smith of Luther OK and Darlene Elbert of Oklahoma City; five brothers: Pat Elbert of Wewoka, Ray Elbert of Spencer, Emmitt Wiggins of Wewoka, Daryl Roberts of Arlington TX, and Mark Franklin of DeQueen AR; a special sister-in-law, Lillie East of Holdenville; her godchild, Jordyn East; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rev. John Berry will officiate funeral services on Saturday, June 4, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Holdenville First Baptist Church, and interment at Wisener Cemetery in Wetumka.
