Stephen Gene Bridges passed away at his home in Yeager, Oklahoma on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 73 years.

Stephen was the son of Bobby Bridges and Elizabeth (Stubblefield) Bridges, born on December 14, 1952, in Oklahoma City. He was brought up in the Holdenville area and attended Moss schools, graduating Moss High School with the Class of 1971. He served in the US Army with the 45th Infantry during the Vietnam era. He worked for many years in the oil field as a roughneck. He married Karen Rogers in 1972 and they enjoyed 28 years together before she passed away in July of 2000. They made their home in Yeager, where Stephen helped to start the Yeager Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for the Creek Nation doing carpentry and roofing, including hot tar work. He married Linda (Stephens) Maynard in 2008.  She passed away in June of 2024 after 16 years of marriage. Stephen retired from his job with the Creek Nation in 2023, and enjoyed spending time fishing, farming, and working with animals. He loved playing Poker and being part of the Yeager Volunteer Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Bridges; his mother, Elizabeth Bridges Cochran; maternal grandparents John Thomas & Margaret Stubblefield; paternal grandparents Alanzo & Callie Bridges; his first wife Karen bridges, and second wife Linda bridges; one brother, Michael Bridges.

He is survived by  three children: Stephanie Cornell (Dennis), Johnny Bridges (Jason), and Jennifer Harris (Patrick); three stepsons: Mark Maynard (Cassie), Bobby Maynard (Rose), and Everett Maynard; four grandchildren: Cheyenne Bridges, Brianna Threlkeld (Nick), Jayden Cornell (Chloe), Leland Cornell and Jasper Harris; five step grandchildren: Taylor McDonald, Trisitie Sanford, Rheagan Maynard, Rylynn Maynard, and Carlee Cross; six great grandchildren: Meekah, Rinlee, Mason, Mackenzie, Nathaniel, and Jaylynn; ten step great grandchildren: Addy, Easton, Charlie, Jasmine, Briar, Eden, Luca, Hendrix, Stormi, and Stevie; other family members and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 2:00pm at Fisher Funeral Home - Lillye Chapel, and Stephen was laid to rest with military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery in Yeager. Pallbearers were Nicholas Threlkeld, Jayden Cornell, Leland Cornell, Jasper Harris, Ben Wooley, and Shaye Parsons. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Cornell, Jason Watts, Jackie Venable, Larry Collier, and Zackery Rogers.
