Sherry Lynn Sing passed away at her home in Ada on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the age of 67 years.
Sherry was the daughter of Mack Coy Harris & Jackie Lou (Bell) Harris, born on March 28, 1947, in Overbrook, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Overbrook and various other Oklahoma towns, and graduated Heavener High School in 1964. After earning her LPN license at Bacone College in Muskogee, she worked in various hospitals and nursing homes, including Valley View Hospital in Ada. She also enjoyed working for a while in the Wal Mart bakery.
Sherry was married to Johnnie Sing on April 19, 1997, at the Free Will Baptist Church in Calvin, Oklahoma. They lived for a time in Atwood and in Allen, and for the past several years made their home in Ada. Sherry enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening, and cooking. She was a very caring and giving person. She would help anyone who needed help. She was a very wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mack & Jackie Harris; one sister, Barbara Nichols, and one brother, Bernard Harris.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Sing, of the home; three sons: Doyle Ritter of the home, Ray Ritter (Angie) of Mulberry, Arkansas, and Jack Ritter (Candy) of Springfield, Missouri; two stepdaughters, LaJohnna Dunderdale of Stratford, and Vickie Randell (David) of Ada; 14 grandchildren: Doyle James Ritter, Samuel Ritter, John Ritter, Doug Ritter, Katy Ritter, Kyle Ritter, Chad Knight , Trevor Dodson, Katelynn Dodson, Sarah Rasha, Victoria Rasha, Joshua Burch, Julie Sicard, and Christopher Burch; 4 great grandchildren: Raylen Ritter, Otto Burch, Trudy Sicard, and Emma Rose Rasha; two sisters, Kay Blevins (Leonard) of Ada and Sue Scott of Hackett, Arkansas; three brothers: Bill Harris (Brenda) of Hackett, Arkansas, Jack Harris (Julie) of Cameron, Pete Harris of Spiro; a very special daughter-in-law, Laurie Ritter, and a precious great granddaughter, Raylen Ritter; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 19, 2:00 p.m. at the Free Will Baptist Church of Calvin, and Sherry was laid to rest in the Allen Cemetery, Allen, Oklahoma, with Rev. Jim Lawrence
officiating.
