Samuel Fredrick Russell passed away at his home in Gerty, Oklahoma on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the age of 89 years.
Fred was the son of Larkin Lee Russell & Eva Golden (Thorpe) Russell, born on November 11, 1925 near Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and returned to Holdenville. He married Evelyn Foster in 1961; she passed away in 1981. He married Velma Lou Brotherton on July 1, 1982, in Atwood, Oklahoma. Velma also preceded him in death, in 2007.
Fred was a hard-working farmer all his life, for many years in the Gerty area. He loved taking his dogs out fox hunting, and he enjoyed fishing. He was an avid reader of everything in general, Louis L'amour in particular, and was a collector of Louis L'amour westerns.

One brother, Bill Russell of Rosharon, Texas
Numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Gerty. Interment will be in the Gerty Cemetery, with military honors.
