Ruth D. McCoy passed away in Holdenville on Friday, October 3, 2014, at the age of 95 years.
Ruth was the daughter of Ira & Ollie (Ralph) Davis, born on December 7, 1918, in Three Brothers, Arkansas. She was married to Tom McCoy in Lamar, Oklahoma on September 22, 1934, at the age of fifteen. They lived in Holdenville, and for a while in California and Texas before returning to Oklahoma. They lived in Lamar, and finally in Holdenville, which has been home for the past twenty-five years.
Ruth attended nursing school in Dumas, Texas in the early 1960s, and became a certified LPN. She worked in the Bullitt Street Hospital in Holdenville and also the Wetumka Hospital before retiring. She loved crochet and ceramics, and she enjoyed playing dominoes and collecting owls.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ira & Ollie Davis; her sister, Margaret Gunter; her husband of 63 years, Tom McCoy, on March 18, 1996; her son, Harvey McCoy, on June 20, 1996, and her infant daughter, Bobbie Uvedine McCoy, in 1935.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Wheeler and husband Darl, and daughter-in-law Betty Phillips and husband Harold, all of Holdenville; seven grandchildren: Tommy McCoy, Ronny McCoy, Perry McCoy, Stacie Burgess, Kristie Tatsch, Debra Foran, and Jeffrey McCoy; nine great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack McCoy and wife Coleen, of Holdenville; four sisters-in-law: Bonnie McCoy, Nell McCoy, Pete Manley, and Stella Davis and husband Norman; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
As Ruth requested, there was a private family interment, with no funeral service.
