Obituary

Ruby Mae Ladd passed away on Sunday morning, August 28, 2011, at Rainbow Terrace Nursing Home in Weleetka, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years.

Ruby was the daughter of Vannie Vaxter Burns & Lillie Belle (McEwin) Burns, born on September 15, 1921, in Gerty, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended Calvin Schools, and was a graduate of Calvin High School. She married Norvel Eugene Ladd in 1943.

Ruby lived her life in Oklahoma, in Calvin, Weleetka and Oklahoma City before moving to Holdenville, her home for the past 18 years.

Ruby enjoyed sewing and fishing, and whatever she was doing, she loved to sing. She attended the First Baptist Church in Weleetka and in Calvin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vannie & Lillie Burns; three sons: Norvel Dale, James Albert and Gary Lynn; one brother, Ernest Burns, one sister, Arlena Burns, and an infant brother.

She is survived by two children, Eugenia Ladd of Holdenville and Dennis Ladd of Wetumka; Five grandsons: Quentan Ladd and daughters Kirsten Ladd, Katelyn Ladd, Julie Netzel and Jessie Cellars, all of Holdenville; Shannon Ladd and children, also of Holdenville; Dennis Lynn Ladd and daughter Michelle Ladd, of Abilene, Texas; Kenneth Dale Ladd of Caney, Oklahoma; Derrick Ladd and family, of Caney, Oklahoma; four granddaughters: Tonya Martin and family of Midwest City, Talaesa Milian and family of Holdenville, Crystal Lynn Moore and family of Jones, Oklahoma, and Dina Bellis of Okemah; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Burns of Calvin; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011, and Ruby will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Oklahoma. Rev. Vernon Baggerly is the officiating minister.
