Obituary

Ruby Doris (Ingram) Robinson McCoy was born June 7, 1938, to Clarence & Annie (Hayes) Ingram in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was the second oldest of six siblings: Lois McCain Cole, then Ruby, Earl, Roylee, Donna Kay Stafford, and Jack Richard. Ruby passed from this life on June 19, 2025, at Heritage Village Nursing Center in Holdenville.

Ruby lived an adventurous life, bow hunting, playing dominoes, playing independent slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball. Pitching and shortstop were her favorite positions. She was a member of the Eastern Star, where she attained the title of Worthy Matron. She worked at Kingsbury Homes in Holdenville where she was the "layout girl", laying out doors and windows for placement. She and her sister Lois leased the Log Cabin Café in Calvin for a short time. After closing it, Ruby decided to move to Colorado, where she worked as a janitor at a school in Ellicott for her cousins, Josephine & Orville Powell. She heard about working in the mines in Climax CO so off she went, living in Dillon and driving each day to Climax. Her boss at the mine was from Antlers OK. Ruby's brothers, Earl and Jack Richard, soon followed and also worked at the mine.

Ruby didn't care much for Winter driving in Colorado. Soon after returning to Oklahoma she married Troy 'Bud' McCoy on November 7, 1975. They made their home on eighty acres southeast of Lamar. They had many cookouts and barn dances. Bud was a pipeliner, so they traveled to many different states. In 1978 they decided to open Ruby's Place with fresh-cooked hamburgers, pool tables, and domino tables. Bud retired from pipelining in 1990 where they owned and operated Lamar One Stop. Bud fixed flats and waited tables and Ruby often had trouble reading Bud's writing. They had Lamar One Stop for ten years until they both decided to retire. Ruby was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Gerty.

Ruby is survived by her son Bobby Robinson and wife Jill, of Gilbert AZ, and daughter Becky McWilliams and husband Mike, of Stuart OK; three grandchildren: Phil Robinson and wife Tammy, of Chandler AZ, Bryan Robinson and wife Tannah, of Poteau OK, and Kelly McWilliams of Stuart OK; four great grandchildren: Tyler Robinson and Bruce Robinson, both of Chandler AZ, Evan Warnock of Wilburton OK, and Khloe McWilliams of Stuart OK; sister Donna Kay, who has always been by her side through the good and the bad; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Annie Ingram; husband Bud McCoy; siblings Lois, Earl, Roylee, and Jack Richard.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, 12:00 noon at Lamar Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Fisher officiating. Pallbearers were Ronnie Dean Stafford, Robert Ingram, Evan Warnock, Mike McWilliams, Bryan Robinson, and Phil Robinson.
