Ronnie Dale 'C-Bar' Martin passed away at his home in Calvin, Oklahoma on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the age of 64 years.
Ronnie was the son of Ebb Everett Martin & Lavern Lorean (Stiles) Martin, born on October 25, 1951, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was brought up and attended schools in the Calvin area, and graduated Calvin High School with the Class of 1969. He attended one semester at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He married Connie Turpin in Mena, Arkansas. They made their home in the Calvin area for their entire forty-one years together, and were blessed with four children: Jodie, Tina, Cory, and Chad. Ronnie worked all his life as a heavy equipment operator for various companies, including OG&E and B. J. Howell.
Ronnie embodied the distinctive character and qualities of the all-American man. He was proud to serve his Country, and duty-bound to work hard and provide for his wife and family. His favorite things were hunting and fishing, and cruising the backroads of the Heartland. He was friendly and neighborly, loved socializing with family, friends in the community and anybody in between, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, any time. In the words of a family friend, "He was such an icon, it's like the end of a modern-day Wild West."
But not the end of the C-Bar Legacy. "To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die". Ronnie Dale 'C-Bar' Martin will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ebb & Lorean Martin, and one sister, Shirley McPhetridge.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Connie, of the home; four children: Jodie Sue Dunn (Jason) of Calvin, Tina Michelle Stalling (Don) of Wagoner, Corey Dale Martin of Calvin, and Chad Everett Martin (Candis) of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren: Hayden Hokit (Chandler) of Pittsburg OK, Connor Dunn of Calvin, Cody Fraser (Ashley) of Sapulpa, Colby Fraser of Oklahoma City, Braxton Dale Martin of Coalgate, Garrett Martin of Anchorage AK, and Joshua Dylan Yockey of Calvin; one brother, Jerry Martin (Odessa) of Calvin, and one sister, Wanda Sue Parks of Wilson; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
