Robert Burke Riddle passed away in Holdenville on Saturday morning, July 23, 2016, at the age of 95 years.
Robert was the son of Luther D. Riddle & Gladys (Stillwell) Riddle, born on January 20, 1921, in Dustin, Oklahoma. He was brought up in various parts of Oklahoma as the family followed his father's work in the oil business. Following high school graduation, Robert joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served as a Torpedoman's Mate First Class. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945, and made his home in California. He went to school in Sacramento to become a watchmaker jeweler, and worked in that occupation for 12 years in Altaville.
He returned to Oklahoma in 1956, and operated a dairy in the Prairie View community near Holdenville. For many years, he operated a Phillips 66 service station on Hinckley Street in Holdenville. He was a longtime member of the First Church of God. He was a member of the American Legion and also the VFW, where he served a few terms as Post Commander.
Robert loved life. He enjoyed being active, and if he was awake he was busy doing something all the time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther & Gladys Riddle; three sisters and one brother; one daughter, Judy Riddle Gates; three wives: Betty Riddle Heald, Ruth Geovia Riddle, and Esther Riddle.
He is survived by one son, Robert F. 'Bob' Riddle of Holdenville; one grandson, Bobby Yates of Salem IL; five great grandchildren; other relatives and many, many friends.
In honor of Robert's request, no funeral services were held.
