Robert George Faxon passed from this life at his home in Earlsboro, Oklahoma on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the age of 94 years.
Robert was born to Vernon Faxon and Laura (Fowler) Faxon in Portland, Oregon on May 5, 1926. He lived the early years of his life in Portland and then moved with his family to Hebron, Indiana, where he graduated Hebron High School in 1944.
Robert joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII, and later rejoined the Army to serve in the Korean War. After military service he returned to Indiana and studied at the Valparaiso University, where he earned a Masters in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts. He worked for many years as an account executive and served as Vice President of Blue Cross Blue Shield in Dallas, Texas and then Oklahoma City. He retired while working in Oklahoma City.
Robert loved to travel. He loved researching the Civil War and visiting the battlefields with grandson Michael. He also was interested in the Battle of Little Big Horn in Montana and visited the site as well. He played tennis and enjoyed running. He studied his Bible every day.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Laura Faxon; his former wife, Minnie Ruth Faxon, and his brother, Butch Faxon; two sons, Ronald Faxon and Michael Faxon, and two grandsons, Warren Griffith and Tyler Cade Speers.
He is survived by six children: Robert James Faxon of Holdenville OK, Paul Eric Faxon of Oklahoma City OK, Susan McIntosh (George) of Earlsboro OK, Teresa Faxon, Sandra Smith, and Bill Smith, all of Shawnee; 23 Grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; his sister, Marjorie Riggs of Hebron IN; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, January 2, 2021, 1:00 pm at Many Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Holdenville, with military honors presented by the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard. Rev. Jimmy Anderson was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Angel Marquez, Robert Faxon, Anthony Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Justin Dockrey, and Kyle Kueneman. Honorary pallbearers were Robert J. Faxon, Paul Faxon, Bill Smith, Tommy Kalinich, Marty Kalinich, Ken Faxon, Winston Faxon, and Michael Hechimovich.
