Ricky Jess McCoy passed away at his home in Buffalo, Texas on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the age of 65 years.
Rick was the son of Pete 'Pops' McCoy & Nadine (Skipworth) McCoy, born on January 7, 1956, in Lamar, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended Moss school. He also attended Dalhart TX schools and had multiple degrees including having his electrician license, specializing in power lines and substation wiring. He was a self-employed owner/operator of various business enterprises, including a scrap iron company, trucking company, and power line company. Some of his favorite things were hunting, fishing, and dancing. He was a devoted OU Sooner fan.
Rick is preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany McCoy; his sisters, infant Mary Ellen McCoy and Wanda Sue McCoy Rogers; his nephew, Jacob Cameron Swadley; his mother, Nadine Skipworth McCoy, and stepfather Donnie McCoy; grandparents Sam & Cliffie McCoy, Jess McGuire Skipworth and Neoma Aretus Ervin Skipworth.
He is survived by his father, Pete 'Pops' McCoy (Alice) of Donie TX; five children: Taysha Kemp (Kyle), and Brian McCoy, of Dalhart TX, Brandon McCoy (Katie) of Groesbeck TX, Blake Luby of McKinney TX, and B. J. Luby of Dallas TX; six siblings: Christine McCoy (James) of Holdenville, Loren Ansley (Pete) of Oakwood TX, Sheana Delmont (Larry) of Buffalo TX, Billy McCoy (Becky) of Texaco NM, George McCoy (Tanya) of Willis TX, and Joyce Bower of OK; his partner, Teresa Bailey, of Austin TX; numerous uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services were held at Lamar Pentecostal Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021, and Rick was laid to rest at Lamar Cemetery, with Rev. Tony Chesser and Rev. Marla Chesser officiating. Pallbearers were Luke Solley, Lane Solley, Ryan Solley, Brock Solley, Joseph Harringer, and Charley Harringer, with Brian Solley as honorary pallbearer.
