Ricky Carol Barksdale passed from this life on Sunday morning, June 20, 2010, at Midwest Regional Hospital in Midwest City, Oklahoma, at the age of 53 years.
Ricky was the son of Jimmie Carol & Delphie (Abercrombie) Barksdale, born on July 17, 1956, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He spent most of his younger years in the Rockport, Texas area, and attended schools there. He attended Okmulgee Tech and learned auto paint and body work, which became his life-long occupation. He worked in various body shops and as operator of his own business. He also worked periodically as a carpenter and in maintenance.
Ricky loved music, and was a very talented musician. Horns, keyboard, guitar, drums - he played just about anything he decided to play. He was a good singer, also, and loved nothing more than spending time making melody. Next to his love for music and song was his desire to make people laugh and have a good time.
Ricky lived for the last six years in Shawnee, Oklahoma where he was a member of the Apostolic Mission.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmie C. Barksdale, and one brother, Jimmie Paul Barksdale.
He is survived by his mother, Delphie Barksdale of Shawnee, Oklahoma and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 24, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Rock Church in Holdenville, and Ricky will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Michael Barksdale is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Marvin Ballard, Roger Evans, Jonathan Barksdale, Brad Driver, Gary Reid, Timothy Jones, Ray Garner, and Farren Watson.
