Richard 'Dick' Shurley went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2013.
Dick was born November 15, 1934 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to M. I. And Anna (Park) Shurley. He was raised and attended schools in Holdenville. While in High School he served two years in the Oklahoma National Guard and upon graduation joined the United States Navy, serving his country another four years during the Korean War.
In 1978 he married Linda Morrow Jackson where they made their home in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Dick was a retired police officer and later worked as a petroleum landman untill 1999, having to retire due to health problems.
He loved to be out in God's great outdoors hunting, camping and riding his motorcycle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, M. I. & Anna Shurley, brother Hal Shurley, and sister Juanita Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda, of the home; daughter Kim Colibert and husband Mikel of Frisco, Texas; sons Richard Shurley and wife Kim of Lovelland, Colorado, Brian Jackson and wife Jeniece of Holdenville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Brittany Pruitt and husband Kevin of Denver, Colorado, Amber Payne and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City, Candace Shurley and Kelsie Shurley, both of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Richard (Little Man) Jackson of Holdenville, Oklahoma; one great granddaughter, Scarlett Shurley; father-in-law F. J. Morrow; special friend and brother-in-law Tony Morrow; nieces Marion Duncan, Peggy Boren, Robin Ewers; nephews Tad Morrow and Billy J. Phillips; special camping partner and cousin David Park. Dick leaves numerous relatives, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, his contagious smile and his willingness to help others.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, and Dick will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. John Ewers is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Richard Shurley, Brian Jackson, Tony Morrow, Mikel Colibert, Richard (Little Man) Jackson and Tad Morrow. Honorary pallbearers are Wendall Dilday, David Park, Glen Paslay, Ernest Moore, Billy Weaver and Billy J. Phillips.
