Ramsey Harjo passed away at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the age of 71 years.
Ramsey was the son of Raymond Sumka Harjo & Lavina (Larney) Harjo, born on October 30, 1950, in Talihina, Oklahoma, a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. He attended his first four years of school at Bearden schools, and fifth to twelfth grade at Wetumka. He was a graduate of Wetumka High School. He moved to Shawnee after graduation and lived there for several years, then lived in Wetumka, Seminole, and Okmulgee before returning to Seminole, his home for the past three years. He worked as a factory laborer on assembly lines in various places. Some of his favorite things were playing softball and pool, bowling, and watching basketball. He enjoyed traveling to Tahlequah to watch softball, basketball and football. He was a dedicated fan of OU sports. He loved spending time with his dogs, Chebon and Sampson. He was a member for the past five years of Middle Creek Baptist Church #1 in Lamar.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Lavina Harjo and his great grandson, Storm Wunder.
He is survived by his companion, Claudette Yost, of the home; three children: Leah Wunder (Lance) of Tulsa, Ramsey Jr. Of Stilwell, and Priscilla Ponce (Poncho) of Shawnee; three grandchildren: Ryan Moore, Kaitlyn Wunder, and Dakota Earls; sister Annie Harjo of Moore; other family members and many friends; his two beloved dogs, Chebon and Sampson; and a group of wonderful people who provided great care for him: the DaVita Dialysis staff of Shawnee and Jennifer, Stephanie, Regina, and Rodney with Life Spring of Norman.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Wewoka United Methodist Indian Church in Yeager, and Ramsey was laid to rest at the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Darrell Coachman were the officiating ministers. Pallbearers were Dakota Earls, Levi Tilley, Poncho Ponce, Kevin King, Robert King, and Daniel Culley. Honorary pallbearers were the Wetumka Softball Team and Ramsey's high school friends.
Wake service were Wednesday, May 18, 6:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel.
