Obituary

Ralph Turpin, 80 years young, passed from this life in Gerty, Oklahoma on the sweltering hot, bright Friday afternoon of June 1, 2018, while occupied with one of his very favorite things to do in life - working on maintaining property on the ranch he loved.

Ralph was the son of Melvin & Etta Turpin, born on April 30, 1938, in Non, Oklahoma. He was brought up and attended schools in the Non and Gerty area, where he was content to live his entire life. He was married to Jimmie Nell Ramsey for 57 years, ever since their wedding day on April 1, 1961, in Atwood, Oklahoma. They made their home in Gerty, where they owned and operated Turpin's Limousin Ranch for 55 years. They were blessed with a son, Greg, and daughter, Paula.

Ralph loved taking care of everything on their place, took great pride in the ranch, and was extremely proud of his children and their families. He retired a few years ago from co-owning and running/working Turpin Brothers' Sand Plant in Non. He was an active member of the Atwood Church of Christ in Atwood.

Ralph left behind a wonderful family legacy with his wife, Jimmie Nell Turpin, of the home; their son, Greg Turpin, and wife Ines Turpin, of Gerty OK; their daughter, Paula Jones, and husband Larry Jones, of Konawa OK; five grandchildren: Nicole Smith, Allison Poe, Jesse Turpin, Dakota Turpin, and Riley Jones; four great grandchildren: Conner Smith, Sophia Smith, Brody Poe, and Abigale Poe; two brothers: Gene Turpin and wife Joyce Turpin, and Paul Turpin and wife Joyce Turpin; three sisters: Margaret Levingston and husband Roger Levingston, Shirley Ellis, and Pauline Johnson and husband Jerry Johnson; two sisters-in-law: Judy Cain and husband Gene Cain, and Jan Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Etta Turpin; three brothers: Leon Turpin, Elvin Turpin, and James Turpin; two sisters: Ruth Tipton and Kathleen Raney.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at the Allen Auditorium in Allen, Oklahoma, and Ralph was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Keith Warren and Kelley Benson were the officiating ministers. Pallbearers were Jesse Turpin, Dakota Turpin, Riley Jones, Larry Tipton, Shelley Turpin, and Anthony Muck.
