Obituary

Prentis A. Leewright passed away in Holdenville on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the age of 91 years.

Prentis was the son of Lafeyette & Sarah (Craft) Leewright, born on June 16, 1927, in Stuart, Oklahoma. He was brought up and attended schools in Holdenville, and left high school to join the U.S. Army in 1945. He served his country for 18 months and was honorably discharged in 1946.

He earned his GED while in the Army, and became an Instrument Technician. He married Yola Yeary in 1950, in Borger, Texas. They lived in various parts of Texas, Idaho, and Oklahoma following his occupation. He worked for more than 40 years, until he retired in 1989 and returned to Holdenville, where he and Yola made their home for the rest of their lives.

Prentis was a talented and accomplished artist and sculptor. He was a member of the American Legion, and the American Legion Honor Guard.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Yola Leewright; his parents, Lafeyette & Sarah Leewright; his son Steven Mark Leewright, and daughter, Linda Stager; six brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one grandson, Cory Leewright, of St. Marys GA; daughter-in-law Debbie Leewright of Columbus MS; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
