Patsy Sue
Gentry
August 16, 1940 – September 18, 2024
Patsy Sue Gentry passed away in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Patsy was the daughter of Eley & Hattie (Snellings) Eggar, born on August 16, 1940, in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was brought up in the Wolf and Bowlegs communities. She attended Wolf schools until they closed and then transferred to Bowlegs, where she graduated Bowlegs High School with the Class of 1958. She was married to Gilbert Aldridge and they lived in El Paso, Texas where he was stationed with the military. They were blessed with three children, Donna, Mike, and Debbie. Donna and Mike were both born in El Paso and Debbie was born in Seminole, Oklahoma after the family moved there in 1963. They moved to Oklahoma shortly thereafter and all three children were graduates of Holdenville High School.
Patsy was well known in the Holdenville community. She babysat for many children for many years, and worked for many years for Roberts IGA as a clerk and also as Office Manager. She baked the "best pies in the world", especially coconut and chocolate, for Bobbie's Restaurant. She was actively involved in the community as a member of First Baptist Church, Mothers Club, and attended all of her children's school activities. She enjoyed reading and absolutely loved watching games shows on TV. Her favorites were Wheel of Fortune, The Price Is Right, and Jeopardy. Her TV was always on the game show channel and she never missed a game; if she was busy with something else at show time, she always recorded them to watch later. She enjoyed watching Oklahoma City Thunder games, and she was an avid and devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Her son Mike's job was to make certain he called her whenever a game was scheduled to be on TV. What she loved most in the world was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Eley & Hattie Eggar; her daughter, Donna Aldridge; one brother and five sisters.
She is survived by two children: son Mike Aldridge of Fayetteville AR, and daughter Debbie Lucas (Danny) of Holdenville; four grandchildren: Kylee Aldridge (Morgan) of Bentonville AR, Deric Lucas and Cady Lucas, both of Holdenville, and Kymberly Graves of Pea Ridge AR; six great-grandchildren: Ayden, Sawyer, Kolton, Bella Kay, Ashton, and Lane; her sister, Barbara Aldridge of Shawnee; special niece Toni Whittman of Shawnee; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, 1:00pm at the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel, with Jerry Orsburn officiating.
