Orlando A. Weaver passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the age of 79 years.
Orlando was the son of A. C. & Sylvia (Ingfield) Weaver, born on August 9, 1936, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was brought up, attended schools, and graduated high school in Oklahoma City. As a young man, he worked as a stocker for Safeway Grocery stores. He joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served stateside for six years as an aide to a Colonel.
He married Bernice Smith in 1960, and they were blessed with four children: Debbie, James, David, and Lanny Jo. They lived in Orange, Texas, where Orlando worked, like his father before him, as a carpenter/roofer. He later married Dorothea Smith, who preceded him in death.
Orlando lived wherever he felt like it for a while, in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, finally ending up back in Oklahoma, in the Calvin area, where he agreed to repair a porch for a lady named Louise Adams. Orlando & Louise were married in Calvin on March 25, 1999.
Orlando loved carpentry, and after he retired, his occupation became his hobby. He was quite good at crocheting, also, and enjoyed collecting stamps. Most of all, he enjoyed family get togethers, loved playing cards with family members, and spent every vacation he had with family. He was a man of his word, and any commitment he made to anyone, he kept.
He is preceded in death by his parents, A. C. & Sylvia Weaver; two wives, Bernice Weaver and Dorothea Weaver.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Louise, of the home; four children: Debbie Weaver of Dallas TX, James Weaver of Houston TX, David Weaver and Lanny Jo Weaver, both of Tulsa OK; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; his brother, Donald Weaver of Orange TX, and sister, Carolyn Gillery of Lake Charles LA; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016, 1:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel.
