Norma Jean Hendrix passed away in Holdenville on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the age of 83 years.
Norma was the daughter of Aubrey & Velma (Young) Stanfill, born on December 16, 1934, in Calvin, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Calvin and Holdenville. She was married to Vernis Hendrix in Non, Oklahoma on February 16, 1951, two months past her 16th birthday. They were blessed with three children, Shirley, Verna, and David, and sixty-three years together before Vernis passed away on November 1, 2014. Holdenville was their lifelong home.
Norma was energetic and vivacious, and liked to stay busy. She worked various places in Holdenville, including Foster Drug and LaValley Dry Goods, and for more than ten years at Covey Corporation, from 1966 until the plant was destroyed by fire in the late 1970s. Fishing was one of her favorite things, and she loved everything to do with yard work and flowers. She was a sweet and sassy lady, and she will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey & Velma Stanfill, and her husband of 63 years, Vernis Hendrix.
