Nora J. 'Miggy' Bruner passed away in Oklahoma City on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the age 69 years.
Nora was the daughter of California Fixico & Winey (Yahola) Fixico, born on June 9, 1947, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in the Yeager community. She was married to Louis Bruner Jr. on March 20, 1965, in Holdenville. Their two sons, Thomas and James 'J-bird', were brought up in Holdenville. They lost J-bird much too early, at the age of 32 in 2002. Thomas and his wife Crystal were blessed with two children, Kayton and Brett, who were the light of their grandparents' lives. Nora & Louis made Holdenville their home for all their life together, just two months short of 50 years when Louis passed away on January 17, 2015.
Nora worked in Holdenville for Covey Corporation, Seamprufe, as a health care provider for Hughes County DHS, for Aqua Farms, and finally for Holdenville General Hospital housekeeping before her retirement. She was an excellent homemaker also, and loved cooking and quilting. She loved spending time with family and friends, and playing Bingo was one of her favorite things. She was a member of the OAP Club, and spent a lot of time with a group of friends her family affectionately referred to as the Old Ladies Club. She was a very active member of Tekopuchee Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, California & Winey Fixico; her husband, Louis Bruner Jr, and her son, J-Bird.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas & Crystal Bruner, and her two grandchildren, Kayton Bruner and Brett Bruner, all of Holdenville; four sisters: Mary Billy (Fred), Susie Harjo (Lloyd), Geneva Factor, all of Holdenville, and Deana Hulbutta (Ronnie) of Seminole; two brothers, Andrew Fixico of Tulsa and Paul Fixico (Jo) of Sapulpa; three sisters-in-law: Dora Neconish of Holdenville, Irene Mowles of Durant, and Lucinda Wilson of Tulsa; one brother-in-law, Henry Factor of Holdenville; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017, 11:30 a.m. at Tekopuchee Methodist Church, and Nora will be laid to rest in the Yahola Fixico Family Cemetery. Rev. Paul Fixico and Louis McGeeley Jr. will officiate. Pallbearers are Brian Factor, Keith Factor, Jason Neconish, Dennis Langdon, Eric Thlocco, Roger Hulbutta, and Brett Bruner. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Factor, Lloyd Harjo, Denny Langdon, Fred Billy, Ronnie Hulbutta, and Joe Factor.
Wake service will be Sunday, February 12, 2017, 6:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel.
Viewing will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
