Nettie Lee Thornton Kibby passed away at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Allen, Oklahoma on Sunday morning, April 24, 2011, at the age of 90 years.
Lee was the daughter of John & Dona (Kimes) Snider, born on June 12, 1920, at Stuart, Oklahoma, and was brought up southwest of Stuart. She was married to Carl Thornton in Coal County, Oklahoma on June 6, 1934, and they made their home in the Stuart area. Carl passed away in 1971, and Lee was later married to John Kibby in 1977, who passed away in 2004.
Lee worked at Seamprufe for many years as an inspector, and as a seamstress at Wrangler, retiring in the late 1960s. She loved to sew and make quilts, and she loved to fish.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Dona Snider; two husbands, Carl Thornton and John Kibby; one brother, Ed Snider, and one sister, Naomi Peters; three half brothers: Walt Willard, Buck Willard and Melvin Willard.
She is survived by five children: Flora Sells and husband Denver, of Allen, C. L. Thornton of Calvin, Cleaburn Thornton and wife Ruby, of Gerty, Ray Thornton and wife Sandra, of Allen, and Tom Thornton and wife Sharon, of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren: Keith Thornton, Jeff Thornton, Debon Thornton Rhodes, Marty Sells, Monica Thornton, Sheila Thornton, Steve Thornton, Bryan Thornton, and John Thornton; numerous great grandchildren; six stepchildren: Jerry Kibby, Bill Kibby, Carol Webber, Linda Burkhead, Donna Hamilton and Jo Vaughn Davis; extended family, numerous other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, with Rev. Phillip Iker officiating. Lee will be laid to rest in the Non Cemetery at Non, Oklahoma, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
