Obituary

Monte Edward Conley passed away at his home in Holdenville on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the age of 67 years.

Monte was the son of Marlin Allen Conley & Linda Marie (Null) Conley, born on May 3, 1951, in Wetumka, Oklahoma. His younger years were spent in Holdenville until the family moved to Lawton, where he graduated Lawton High School and joined the U.S. Army. He was inducted on August 13, 1969, and served two years during the Vietnam War as a Tank Commander in the Armored Division.

When he returned to the states, he lived in various parts of Oklahoma and worked as a laborer and truck driver. He retired when his health failed due to a service-connected disability. Holdenville has been his home for the past 20 years.

Some of Monte's favorite things were gardening and watching football on TV. He loved repairing and painting, fixing up old houses.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marlin & Linda Conley, and one brother, L. D. Conley.

He is survived by one son, Theron Conley, of California; five brothers: Bob Conley and Allen Conley, both of Lawton, Bill Conley, Frankie Conley (Loriann Chesser Conley), and Mike Conley (Annette), all of Holdenville; a special cousin, Velma Townsend of Peru, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
