Millie Donna Mae Pierce passed away at home in Wewoka, Oklahoma on Friday morning, July 13, 2012, at the age of 78 years.
Donna was the daughter of Daniel Thomas Dickerson & Ida Lee (Brown) Dickerson, born on September 22, 1933, at Lamar, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools. She was married in May of 1949, at 15 years of age, to Sammy McDonald Pierce. They lived back and forth for a while between Holdenville and Oklahoma City, settled in OKC for 14 years, then moved to Holdenville in 1977. Mr. Pierce passed away in 1981. In 1987, Donna moved to be with her children where they lived in North Carolina and returned to Holdenville after one year, and stayed put until 1994. After that, she lived back and forth between Wewoka and Holdenville, then settled in Shawnee where she spent several years until recently, when her health failed and she moved to live with her daughter in Wewoka.
Donna worked as a nurse's aide at various nursing homes in the area, and also for the Seamprufe corporation. She loved her kids and grandkids, and loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed garage sales and watching soap operas, especially "The Young and the Restless."
She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel & Ida Lee Dickerson; her husband, Sammy M. Pierce; an infant son, Keith Pierce; great grandson, Isaiah, and great granddaughter, China; an infant brother.
She is survived by two children, Sam Pierce and wife Sharon, of Holdenville, and Donna Justice and husband Coy, of Wewoka; nine grandchildren: Sammy Pierce and wife Amanda, Tammie Pierce, Mack Pierce, and Miranda Pierce, all of Holdenville, Rose Pierce of Pennsylvania, Natasha Thomas and husband Kevin Hess, of Shawnee, Jason Theberge and wife Liz, of Wewoka, Carrie Justice of Leesville, Louisiana, Jessica Brooks Tary of Shawnee, and Samantha Theberge of Wewoka; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters: Minnie Wade and husband Kenneth of Wellston, Oklahoma, Lillie Sherrin of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Laura Elizabeth Dickerson of Hartshorne, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012, 10:30 a.m., and Donna will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sam Pierce, Coy Justice, Sammy Pierce, Mack Pierce, Bobby Wade, and Jason Theberge.
