Mattie Lorene Pembrook passed away at Heritage Village Nursing Center in Holdenville on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the age of 85 years.
Mattie was the daughter of Charlie & Eva (Coleman) Lyons, born on March 23, 1929 in Fairview, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Newkirk. She was married to Raymond Pembrook in the late 1940s, following his military service during World War II, and they followed Raymond's road construction work all over Oklahoma.
Mattie has made her home in Holdenville since 1964, when the family moved here during the construction of the Calvin bridge. She worked at the Seamprufe garment factory and at Boyce Manor Nursing Home. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Eva Lyons; her husband, Raymond Pembrook; three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by seven children: Don Pembrook of Coweta, Chuck Pembrook of Spaulding, Delores Smith (Jim) of Harrah, Kenneth Pembrook (Connnie) of Morris, Randy Pembrook (Brenda) of Holdenville, Roger Pembrook of Morris, DeDe Pembrook of Sayre; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Lyons of Ponca City; various other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, and Mattie will be laid to rest in the Orion Cemetery in Orion, west of Fairview, Oklahoma, under direction of Fairview Funeral Home. Rev. Orville White is the officiating minister. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
There will be opportunity for viewing and visitation for friends and family at Fisher Funeral Home from 12:00 noon till 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30. Removal to Fairview Funeral Home will be on Thursday morning, May 1, for viewing and visitation there before services on Saturday.
