On April 9, 2011, Mary Jane Wheeling Dennis passed away at the age of ninety-five. She was born April 16, 1915 in Miami, Oklahoma to Eula and Mert Wheeling. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, an older brother, and her husband, Joseph Stanley Dennis.
She is survived by two children: Jack Stanley Dennis of Cross Plains, Wisconsin and Mary Jo Carlson of Seminole, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren: Joe Loftis, Lea Loftis, Tom Loftis, Lori Davis, Lynn Loftis, Brent John Dennis, Mark William Dennis, Joseph Raymond Dennis, Alexander Ryff Dennis, and Tyler Benson Dennis. Mary also had fifteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
She lived most of her life in Oklahoma as a homemaker, but worked as an aircraft inspector for the Douglas Aircraft Company at Tinker AFT during World War II, and later at Kerr's Department Store in Oklahoma City as a cashier. Her last four years were spent at Avonlea Cottage Assisted Living Center on Wrangler Boulevard in Seminole, where she was lovingly and compassionately cared for.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011, 9:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, with Rev. Jason Yarbrough officiating. Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
