Mary Ann Harjo passed away in Oklahoma City on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2023, at the age of 76 years.

Mary Ann was the daughter of John & Lizzie (Lowe) Yargee, born on February 1, 1947 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up in the Horntown and Ragtown areas. She attended Moss schools and the Eufaula Boarding School. She was married to Jacob Harjo and traveled for several years following his military career. She lived for eleven years in Oklahoma City and worked at a hospital, before moving back to Holdenville in 1992. She attended First Indian Baptist Church of Holdenville. She enjoyed sewing, and loved making traditional Indian dance wear. She loved caring for her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Lizzie Yargee; an infant daughter; one grandson, Stormy Siah Yargee; sister Wanda Jean Yargee Moses, and brother Lymon Yargee.

She is survived by two sons, Tony Yargee and financé Nona Cloud of Wewoka, and Alex Lee Harjo of Holdenville; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers, Amon Yargee of Weleetka and Thomas R. Yargee of Wewoka; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, 1:00pm at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Mary Ann was laid to rest at Yeager Cemetery. Rev. Paul Fixico and Rev. Houston Tiger were the officiating ministers. Pallbearers were Wesley Yargee, Phelan Yargee, Cody Yargee, Lymon Yargee Jr., Cheyenne Yargee, and Micco Moses. Honorary Pallbearers were Cuba Yargee, Frisco Yargee, Alex Yargee, and Eli Yargee.

Wake service was held Friday evening, April 28, 2023, at 7:00pm at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel.
