Obituary

Martha Ann Long passed away in Okemah, Oklahoma on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the age of 66 years.

Martha was the daughter of Nathan Long Sr. & Cindy (McGeeley) Long, born on March 1, 1951 in Talihina, Oklahoma. She was brought up in the Salt Creek community and attended Yeager schools through 8th grade. She graduated Holdenville High School with the Class of 1970, and then attended Bacone College in Muskogee for two years. She returned to Holdenville, and in later years attended Seminole State College.

In addition to various part time jobs, Martha worked many years for Seamprufe, Big Yank, and Wrangler. She served as Secretary and Parliamentarian for the Holdenville Creek Indian Community Center. She was a member of the Salt Creek Methodist Church. She loved sewing, crochet, arts and puzzles.

She is preceded by in death by her parents, Nathan & Cindy Long; two sisters, Cynthia Long and Frances Long.

She is survived by one sister, Nancy Long of Holdenville, and three brothers: Beaver Ward of Shawnee, Donald Long, and Nathan Long Jr., both of Holdenville; one niece, Joni Long of Holdenville, and two nephews, Stephen Giles of Holdenville and Tim Long of Calvin; three great nephews: Cody Long, Aiden Cole Giles, and Jed Long, and one great niece, Arya Herrod; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel and wake on Wednesday, June 14, 7:00 p.m. at Lillye Chapel with Rev. Kelly Tiger Jr. officiating. Jed Long, Cody Long, Stephen Giles, Chris Aultman, and Ted Martin served as honorary pallbearers.
