Obituary

Marjorie Rae 'Marge' Crump passed away at her home in Yeager, Oklahoma on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the age of 77 years.
Marge was the daughter of Robert Ray Ewen & Olive Jane (Perkins) Ewen, born on June 26, 1942, in Iola, Kansas. Her childhood was spent in various parts of California until her family settled in Fair Oaks. Marge graduated San Juan High School in 1959, and shortly after graduation was married to John Crump in Orangevale on July 31, 1965. The two of them traveled with the U.S. Navy across the country - San Diego, California; New London, Connecticut; Norfolk, Virginia; Bremmerton, Washington; Key West and Orlando, Florida -  and to various parts of the world, including Hawaii, Guam, Scotland, and Diego Garcia.  John retired in 1982 after serving 22 years, and he and Marge moved to Oklahoma and made their home in Yeager.
Both Marge and John were intensely patriotic, community minded and neighborly, and they enjoyed working together. While John served any way he could in the American Legion, Marge did the same in the Auxiliary; as both local and district President and Secretary/Treasurer, in various chairmanships statewide, and as President and Secretary/Treasurer in the 80/40 Elite Branch of the Auxiliary. Marge was a dispatcher and John a volunteer for the Yeager Volunteer Fire Department, and the two of them contributed a great deal of time and effort, through the dangerous summer months of Oklahoma's long droughts, raising funds for several other volunteer fire departments in the area.
After John passed away on February 2, 2010, Marge carried on the love of country and the love of people they'd practiced together in Yeager for 28 years. She loved her community, and spent a lot of time assisting with community projects. She loved her town, and was a good neighbor. She loved doing whatever she could for others, and looked for any opportunity to lend a helping hand. She was a good friend to many, and she will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ewen and Olive Shepard, and her beloved husband of 44 years, John Crump.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Ewen, of Pioneer CA, and her stepbrother, also of CA; her cousin, Frances Daniels, of Iola KS; other relatives, and a host of friends.
Graveside services were held on Monday, August 19, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel in Yeager, with American Legion Chaplain Earl Dunkleberger officiating.
