Marguerite Elaine Hearod passed away at her home in Holdenville on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the age of 66 years.
Marguerite was the daughter of Oscar & Opal (Smith) Hicks, born on November 3, 1949, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Tulsa, and graduated Tulsa Union High School with the Class of 1967. She married Arty Hearod on December 17, 1971, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Holdenville. Marguerite earned her master's degree in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma, and worked as Librarian for Holdenville High School, retiring after twenty-five years.
Marguerite loved to read, crochet, and raise chickens. She was a pastor's wife for more than forty-four years, most recently at Lone Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Scipio, Oklahoma. She was a loving and devoted mother of four daughters and two sons.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Opal Hicks; grandparents Frank & Floy Smith; one son, Paul Hearod; two grandchildren, Koby Fiero and Clifford Rogers.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Arty Hearod, of the home; four daughters: Dionna Haeffner (Randall) of West Plains MO, Virginia Dane (Jeff) of Sherman TX, Tisha Reeve (Ray Harp) of Fort Worth TX, and Tammy Fiero (Charles) of Blanco TX; one son, Shannon Hearod (Tina) of McAlester OK; one brother, David Hicks (Janet) of Bixby OK; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and one on the way; numerous other relatives, and many friends.
Graveside services were held and Marguerite was laid to rest at the Hearod Family Cemetery in Holdenville at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, with Rev. Jim Lawrence officiating.
