Louis Harjo Jr. was born April 14, 1962 in Talihina, OK to Ella and Louis Harjo Sr.

Louis graduated from Sasakwa High School in May of 1981, after which he attended cosmetology school in Ada, OK. Louis went on to receive his CDL and began driving the school bus for Summers Chapel Head Start in Konawa. Shortly after its closure, he began driving for Sasakwa Public Schools.  After leaving Sasakwa Public Schools, he began working for New Horizons Nursing Home in Konawa, earning his CNA and later go on to work for Oakridge Nursing Home in Wewoka.

Louis began utilizing his cosmetology license, contracting as a barber and beautician with multiple shops around the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas.  Louis moved back to Sasakwa after the passing of his mother, Ella Harjo, and would once again begin working for Oakridge Nursing Home until he became ill.

Louis was a member of Spring Baptist church in Sasakwa Ok. He came to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior on January 9th, 1972.

Louis always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He was a father figure to some, a voice of reason to others. He would give you a shoulder to lean on, the other to cry on. He would give you money if you were hungry or just needed a little gas to get you where you needed to go. He was AAA when your car broke down and a taxi driver when you needed to get around. He would always give and rarely asked.

Louis loved family gatherings. He enjoyed playing volleyball with his cousins, nieces, nephews, his brothers and sisters.   He would talk about how fast his great-nephews and great-nieces are growing, and would often say, "As the kids grow bigger, this house feels smaller."

Louis enjoyed going to the Seminole Nation Days Festival, he would always insist on having a camp. This past year, even while he was in pain, he insisted on attending the parade. He enjoyed seeing all the tribal members smiling, laughing and having a good time and especially enjoyed seeing the kids all dressed up in traditional clothing.

Louis loved to camp at church, as well, where he enjoyed sitting around, listening to the tales of old, laughing about things of the past, and remembering those we have lost along the way.

Louis went home to celebrate with the Lord on January 6th, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Harjo, his father, Louis Harjo Sr., his brother, Lloyd Lee Harjo, and his sister, Ramona Faye (Harjo) Noriega.

He is survived by his brothers, Vernon, Wilbert & Gilbert Harjo, his sisters Wynema (Harjo) Peterson & Peggy (Harjo) Wood, and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Wake service was held at Fisher Funeral Home in Holdenville on Friday January 9th, 2026 at 7:00pm. Removal of the body was 10:00am on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from Fisher Funeral Home to Spring Baptist Church.

Funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa, with Rev. Frank Moppin officiating and Rev. Dan Factor assisting. Pallbearers were Belcher Noriega, Derrick Noriega, Manuel Noriega, Brandon Harjo, Josh Puntka, and Karl White. Honorary Pallbearers were Tristian Thomas, Terry Bicknell, Carlos Noriega, Chris Natseway, Billy Mac Peterson, Stanley Factor, and Jerry Harjo.

Louis was laid to rest at the family cemetery.
