Louis was the son of Louis Bruner Sr. & Cora Mae Lowe, born on December 11, 1938, in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was brought up in Holdenville, and attended Holdenville schools. He served for a time in the Oklahoma National Guard, and then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He served four years as an Airman Third Class, spending most of his time in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1965.

Louis married Nora Bruner in Holdenville on March 20, 1965, and they made Holdenville their home for all their life together, just two months short of 50 years. Their two sons, Thomas and James 'J-bird', were brought up in Holdenville. They lost J-bird much too early, at the age of 32 in 2002. Thomas and his wife Crystal were blessed with two children, Kayton and Brett, and Louis loved spending time with them.

Louis worked most of his life as a carpenter. He served as a Deacon at Tekopuchee Methodist Church. He loved the Lord, and always enjoyed spending the day at church. Next to spending time with his grandkids, he enjoyed watching sports and old Westerns on TV.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Bruner Sr. & Cora Mae Lowe; his son, James 'J-bird' Bruner; two sisters, Ramona Karty and Cindy Harjo, and one brother, William Cully.

He is survived by his wife, Nora, of the home; His son Thomas and wife, Crystal, and their children, Kayton Bruner and Brett Bruner, all of Holdenville; three sisters: Dora Neconish of Holdenville, Irene Mowles of Durant, and Lucinda Wilson of Tulsa; numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives, and many friends.
