Obituary

Loretta Jo Garretson arrived in this world on August 22, 1943, at Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was resting in McLoud, Oklahoma when the gates of Heaven opened for her at 6:15 in the evening on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, and GOD was calling her home.

Loretta was the daughter of Herman Alfred Lock & Gladys (Calloway) Lock. The family moved from Holdenville when Loretta was a child and lived in Tecumseh for a while before moving to Oklahoma City, where she graduated Capitol High School. She later moved to McLoud and lived there for several years. She was married to Jerald Thomas Garretson on July 3, 1979 in Gainesville, Texas. They made their home in Eufaula, Oklahoma until Jerald passed away in July of 2010, and Loretta returned to live close to her family in McLoud.

Loretta enjoyed reading, shopping, and all kinds of crafts. She loved going to casinos, where she was always unusually lucky. But her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Loretta is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Jerald Garretson; her parents, Herman & Gladys Lock; one brother, Aubrey L. Monday; two infant grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelle & Denver Claxton of McLoud, and Shelle & Larry Minor of Newalla, Oklahoma; three stepsons: Jerald Garretson and Chris Garretson, both of Oklahoma, and Jeff Garretson of Missouri; five grandchildren: Charles Claxton (Natalie) of Nacoma Park, Oklahoma, Marcus Claxton (Anita) of McLoud, Denver 'D. J.'
