Linda Sue Hume passed away in Midwest City, Oklahoma on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the age of 80 years.
Linda was the daughter of Reuben & Dorothy (Preston) Hume, born on January 10, 1943, in Cromwell, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Cromwell and Wewoka, and graduated Wewoka High School with the Class of 1961. She lived for several years in Wewoka before moving to Holdenville, her home since 1980. She was married to Frank Romero. She worked in Holdenville for Anthony's Department Store and for Boyce Manor Nursing Home, both as beautician and kitchen help. She was head machinist for several years at Big Yank in Wewoka. She enjoyed sewing, especially making burp rags and blankets for her grandchildren. She loved gardening and canning vegetables. Most of all, she loved being with her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben & Dorothy Hume; her infant daughter, Debbie; two sisters, Patty Harris and Debbie Stibbens.
She is survived by three children: Angela Stewart of Maud, Christopher Mark Brooking (Sharon) of Holdenville, and Michael Brooking (Carolina) of Houston TX; six grandchildren: Chris Brooking Jr, Lloyd Wilmeth (Alisha), Jimmy Wilmeth (Rhianna), Breanna Collins (Rob Heiskill), Maria Brooking, and Michael A. Brooking; eleven great grandchildren; her former husband and close friend, Frank Romero of Wetumka; her brother, Jim Hume of Dallas TX; her very close friend, Sheila Egge of Wewoka; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 26, 2023, 2:00pm at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Linda was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery with Rev. Bill Chesser and Rev. Kevin Merriman officiating. Pallbearers were Lloyd Wilmeth, Jimmy Wilmeth, Chris Brooking Jr, C. J. Brooking, Mike Brooking, Mark Brooking, and Robby Heiskill. Honorary pallbearers were Michael A. Brooking, Rhyker Heiskill, Easton Wilmeth, Lukas Wilmeth, and Tucker Brooking.
