Penny Kay was the daughter of Sampson & Mary Ida (Tiger) Harjo, born on September 3, 1949, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She attended Yeager community schools in her younger years, and graduated Sequoia High School in Tahlequah. She was married to Raymond Dyer Sr. on October 3, 1968, at Hilltop Presbyterian Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She worked for many years as a cook for Creek Nation Senior Nutrition Center. She was a member of Salt Creek Methodist Church.
Penny Kay loved life, and found joy in the simple things that matter most. She enjoyed feeding and caring for her chickens, and was particularly fond of an ornery cat named Bennie. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially watching them participate in sporting events. She loved the Yeager community, where she lived more than 51 years with the love of her life, Raymond Dyer Sr. Her family was everything to her, and included with her children and grandchildren are several dear friends whom she considered her family. She was deeply loved, and will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sampson & Mary Harjo; one grandson, Clayton Foote; close friends she considered her siblings: Patricia Lincoln, Naomi Footracer, Ben Tiger Jr., Andy Clark, and Betty Tiger.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Raymond Dyer Sr., of the home; two children, Stacy Wulf and husband Tony of Holdenville, and Raymond 'Ray-Ray' Dyer Jr. (Tia Brown) of Seminole; ten grandchildren: Kyle Dyer (Chelsea), Sampson Dyer (Lexi Thomas), Lexi Harjo, Tafv Harjo, Isaac Harjo, Kay-Kay Harjo, Gracelyn Wulf, Little Tony Wulf, Seph Wulf, and Kagin Wulf; two great grandchildren, Kyle Dyer Jr. and Samiah Dyer; close friends she considered her siblings: Doug Scott, Jo Fixico, Debbie Clark, and Phyllis Warrington; various other family members and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 21, 2019, 1:30 p.m. at Salt Creek Methodist Church, and Penny Kay was laid to rest at Harjo Family Cemetery. Officiating ministers were Rev. Paul Fixico and Rev. Mike Deer.
