Obituary

Lewis Steven 'Steve' Fisher passed away at his home in Holdenville on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the age of 66 years.

Steve was the son of L. R. 'Bud' Fisher & Virginia (Dohrer) Fisher, born on September 20, 1945 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He graduated Henryetta High School in 1963, and attended Connor State College in Warner, Oklahoma for two years.

He enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam, the last during the Tet Offensive. He then worked as a fireman in Henryetta, then as an EMT in Okmulgee. He re-enlisted in the Army and worked as a National Guard recruiter in Holdenville and the surrounding areas until he retired in 1994. He later worked for the U.S. Census Bureau and as an outreach worker for the New Age Project. He enjoyed his time there and made many wonderful friends.

Steve married Ima Bogle on July 20, 1971, in Oklahoma City, and they were blessed with a son and daughter. Steve was a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother. He was a wonderful and caring friend, an admired individual and an outstanding role model. He loved people, loved a good laugh, loved making people smile and loved generously giving Kisses (the Hershey's chocolate kind) to everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bud & Virginia Fisher of Henryetta, and his mother-in-law, Dormilee Guinn Bogle of Hanna.

He is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Ima; daughter, Stephanie Dindy of Holdenville, son Steven Duane Fisher and daughter-in-law Mary Fisher of Checotah; three grandchildren: Breann Dindy, Sam Fisher and Celena Fisher; five brothers and sisters-in-law: Bob & Linda Fisher of Broken Arrow, Gary & Alicia Fisher of Bixby, Dennis & Lesa Fisher of Cushing, John & Tina Fisher of Okmulgee, Donald & Debbie Fisher of Henryetta; one sister, Carol Fisher of Tulsa; multiple nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; his father-in-law, Warren G. Bogle, and all Steve's family from Bogle Holler, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, with Rev. Joe Lunsford officiating. Steve will be laid to rest in the Hanna Cemetery at Hanna, Oklahoma with U.S. Army honors.
