Obituary

Larry Joe Brown passed away in Seminole, Oklahoma on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of sixty-eight years.

Larry is the son of Joe Brown & Winey Harjo, born on September 27, 1956, in Talihina, Oklahoma. He was brought up in the Wewoka/Cromwell area and graduated Butner High School in Cromwell with the Class of 1974. He married Doris Jackson Hamilton on December 16, 1997 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He worked undercover for the OSBI, and as a police officer in Durant, Wewoka, and Holdenville. He retired as a Hughes County Deputy Sheriff. He served his country in the Persian Gulf with the U.S. Army National Guard in Operation Desert Storm. He enjoyed deer hunting and loved going for rides on the back roads in the country. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist ETCOGIC, where he became a member on April 15, 2018, under the leadership of the late Overseer John Berry. He was head of church security and was on trial awaiting ordination to become a Deacon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Polly Brown; two sisters, Mollie Brown and Tootsie Brown; one nephew, Willie Chupco.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Doris Brown, of the home; daughter Lisa Marie Marsh (Jackie Williams) of Durant; grandson Jaren Marsh of Calera; stepchildren: Amy DeSousa (Nuno) of Colorado Springs CO, Michael J. Hamilton of Holdenville, and Tiffany Pangalila (Brian) of Texas; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Wisey Brown, and one niece, Melinda Chupco, both of Holdenville; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were held at Glory Cemetery in Holdenville at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, with Pastor Elder Earl Crawford officiating.
