Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Harris passed away in Holdenville on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the age of 79 years.

Kenneth was the son of Doyle & Clemmie (Lawson) Harris, born on February 13, 1934, in Robytown, Oklahoma, near the Gerty community. He attended Gerty schools, and was a graduate of Gerty High School. He married Shirley Reid and they were the parents of two children, Brenda and Kenny. Shirley passed away in 1984. Kenneth later married Irene Bell.

Kenneth worked twenty-seven years at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, retiring in March of 1991. He served for a time on the Hughes County Rural Water Board, and enjoyed spending time on some of his favorite things, among them dancing, fishing, tending his vegetable garden. He loved horses and roping.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle & Clemmie Harris; his wife, Shirley; two brothers, Raymond Harris and Doyle Harris Jr.; one sister, Wanda Tollett.

He is survived by his wife, Irene, of the home; two children, Brenda Anderson and husband John of Crescent, and Kenney Harris and wife Vicki of Blanchard; three stepchildren: Mary Engle and husband Kevin of Healdton, Joe Gragert and wife Carrie of Allen, and Skip Gragert of McAllen, Texas; seven grandchildren: Tanner Harris and wife Maria of Blanchard, Houston Harris and wife Kasey of Dibble, Amy Anderson of Crescent, J. T. Anderson and wife Tiffany, and Zane Anderson and wife Libby, all of Edmond, Konnor Engle of Healdton, and John Baggerly of Allen; five step grandchildren: Tyrell Gragert of Allen, Orrin Gragert and wife Katie of Holdenville, Jayce Gragert and wife Natasha of Alva, James Turman and Randal Turman, both of Ada; six great grandchildren: Hazen, Taryn, Hunter, Hudson, Quinnley, Johnny; six step great grandchildren: David, Jessica, Jadelyn, Brooklyn, Addison, Joe; one brother, Cotton Harris of Holdenville; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 3, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Richmond Avenue Free Will Baptist Church in Allen, and Kenneth was laid to rest in the Gerty Cemetery, with Rev. Buddy Drake officiating. Kenneth's grandsons served as pallbearers.
