Kenneth Ray Ellison passed away in Holdenville, Oklahoma on February 5, 2020, at the age of 84 years.
Kenneth was the son of Troy Elvin Ellison & Thelma Edna (Rose) Ellison, born on December 23, 1935, in Natural Dam, Arkansas. He was brought up and attended schools both in Arkansas and in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He married Dovie Dean McMullen on October 8, 1954, in Tulsa, where they made their home and operated Ellison Excavating Company for 34 years. They bought a ranch in the Lamar area and used it through the years for hunting, and moved there when Kenneth retired in 1997. Kenneth loved hunting, as well as farming and ranching, raising cows, growing hay, and he especially enjoyed raising and showing Appaloosa horses. He was a member of the Lamar Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Troy & Thelma Ellison, and his wife of fifty years, Dovie Ellison, on January 4, 2006.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny & Rebecca Ellison of Tulsa, and his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn & Rockie Mitchell of Lamar; eight grandchildren: Christina Ellison, Dustin Ellison, Micheala Mitchell, Jessica Ann Mitchell-Gibson (Kyle), Rocky Allen Mitchell, Andrea Mitchell, Gidget Mitchell (Bruce Parris), and Lucas Mitchell; 17 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; three brothers: Troy Ellison (Jo) of Tulsa, Dale Ellison of Sperry, and Gale Ellison of Pryor; nieces and nephews, various other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 10, 2020, 10:30 a.m. at Lamar Baptist Church, and Kenneth was laid to rest at Lamar Cemetery. Officiating ministers were Rev. Mark Milligan and Rev. Jack Vance. Pallbearers were Bill McCoy, Keith McCoy, Paul Camp, Charles Gann, Jackie Mills, and Leroy Mills. Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Gann, Dale Milam, John Freeman, and Phillip Lee.
