Obituary

Kelly Dewayne Ackerson passed away at his home in Holdenville on Wednesday afternoon, October 15, 2014, at the age of 56 years.

Kelly was the son of George & Sue (Hall) Ackerson, born on July 12, 1958, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He was employed with Shower Abatement Company and also worked as a commercial building painter, and with his stepfather as a carpet layer. He met Khris Rains in August of 1993, and the two of them have been together ever since. They have made their home in Holdenville since 1995.

Kelly loved spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite things were fishing, riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and hunting for arrowheads. He loved yard work, and always had a flower garden to tend. He attended the Atwood Church of the Nazarene.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Ackerson, and his grandparents; one brother-in-law, Jerry Brown; numerous friends.

He is survived by his companion of twenty-one years, Khris Rains, of the home; his mother and stepfather, Sue & Bill Hines; two sisters, Kim Brown of Eufaula and Kathy Raby (Ed) of Mustang; two nieces, Jeri Kay and Kasey; three stepchildren: Meloney Provence (Coy) of Holdenville, Anthony Rains and Nickki Kilhoffer (Tyler), all of Altus; two step grandchildren, Aidan Johnson and Gracie Provence; numerous other granchildren, various relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the Atwood Church of the Nazarene and Kelly will be laid to rest in the Atwood Cemetery, with Rev. Larry McDaniel officiating.

Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
