Karen June Roebuck passed away at her home in Holdenville on Friday afternoon, November 21, 2014, at the age of 64 years.
Karen was the daughter of G. W. & Katie (Smith) Parsons, born on October 6, 1950, in Holdenville. She was brought up in the Little River community and attended Holdenville schools. She graduated Holdenville High School in 1968 and attended East Central University in Ada for a while, but it was later in life when she returned to ECU and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Health issues prevented a full-time teaching career, and Karen worked for many years as a substitute teacher while raising her family, along with other jobs including employment at Heritage Village Nursing Home and managing the Holdenville Pizza Hut.
Karen lived a simple life and enjoyed every day. Her favorite hobby was crocheting. She loved watching movies, two genres in particular: John Wayne westerns and Disney. One of her treasured possessions was a complete collection of every Disney movie ever made. She was involved in anything her kids and grandkids were involved in, from agriculture to sports, at both Holdenville and Moss schools. She saved every penney she could, never wanted to be a burden to anybody. She was a happy-go-lucky lady, always cheerful and pleasant. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, G. W. & Katie Parsons, and one brother, Donald Parsons.
She is survived by two children, Tammy Venable (Johnny) of Holdenville, and Robert Roebuck of Vista, California; two grandchildren, Daniel Venable of Holdenville and Morgan Teague (Trever) of Wanette; two great grandchildren, Bentley Teague and Sara Teague, both of Wanette; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary & Sherry Parsons of Wasilla, Alaska, and Gerald & Brenda Parsons of Stratford; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Memorial services were held on Monday, November 24, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, with Rev. Mickey Hensley officiating.
