Joy Ellena (McCoin) Epperley, also known as 'Miss Joy', passed from this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at her home in Holdenville, Oklahoma, one day before her 89th birthday.

Joy was born on January 25, 1935, to Richard C. 'Red' McCoin & Marie Nellie (McCulley) McCoin, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She graduated Holdenville High School with the Class of 1953. She was married to Leo O. Epperley Jr on January 19, 1957, in Ada, Oklahoma. She worked in Ada with her husband, son, and grandson in their fire and safety equipment business 'AAA' for forty-nine years until she and Leo retired and moved back to Holdenville.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Red & Marie McCoin; daughter LeaEllen (Epperley) Ware, and son Leo O. 'Trey' Epperley III; three sisters: Helen McCoin Pasley, Mary Kathryn McCoin McKenzie, and Betty McCoin West; two brothers, Richard Clinton McCoin and Robert 'Bob' Eugene McCoin; her husband of sixty-five years, Leo Epperley, in 2021.

She is survived by two grandsons, Jacob Epperley and wife Amy of Tyler, Texas, and Russell Ware of Shawnee; two granddaughters, Jeanette Lea Ware and Tabitha Mae Ware, both of Ada; special nephew Dennis Pasley of Amarillo, Texas, and favorite niece Cherilyn Vanderhorn of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside services with Mr. Bill Robinson officiating were held at Holdenville Cemetery, 10:30am on Monday, January 29, 2024, and Joy was laid to rest beside her husband, Leo.
