Obituary

Joseph Wayne Yahola Sr. passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the age of 43 years.

Joseph, affectionately known as 'Spodie', was the son of Amos Jackson Yahola & Linda (Jacobs) Harjo, born on July 14, 1974, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. With the exception of eight years as a young child living with his family in Denver, Colorado, Spodie spent his entire life in Oklahoma, in the Wewoka/Holdenville area. He worked at various occupations, including tree service, refurbishing and roofing houses, and for Blue Wave Boats in Seminole.

Spodie was creative and talented, and was an accomplished and excellent artist. Art was his passion, and he loved drawing and building things with his hands.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Renee Yahola; his grandparents; his father, Amos Yahola Sr.; his sister, Minnie Yahola, and brother, Amos Yahola Jr.

He is survived by four children: Emily Yahola of Holdenville, Elizabeth Yahola of Shawnee, Joseph Yahola Jr. of Barnsdall, and Jarrad Yahola of Holdenville; five grandchildren: Greyson Yahola of Shawnee, Natalie Yahola of Lawton, Haydin Yahola of Lawton, Destiny Barber of Maud, and one soon to arrive; he is also survived by his mother, Linda Harjo of Holdenville, and five siblings: Frank Yahola of Tulsa, Susie Yahola of Holdenville, Kerry Yahola of Oklahoma City, Terry Yahola of Bullhead City AZ, and Melinda Yahola of Bristow; numerous other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Spodie was laid to rest at Yeager Cemetery. Wake service was held at Lillye Chapel on Tuesday evening, May 22, at 7:00 p.m. Officiating ministers were Rev. Mitchell Taylor, Rev. Wallace Gambler, and Rev. Sidney Lee. Pallbearers were Brian Powell, Tommy Kalinich, Marty Kalinich, Jeff Powell, Pat Hicks, and Richmond Tiger. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Jacobs and Johnny Jacobs.
