Johnnie Roberta Gatewood, 73 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.
Johnnie was born on February 11, 1952, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to the late Bert and Mollie Green. She was the youngest of eight children, seven preceded her in death. She attended school at Calvin Public Schools.
Johnnie married Phil Dull in 1969 and they had two children. Second marriage to Joe Gatewood in 1987. Johnnie cooked and served in restaurants from a young age until no longer able. She enjoyed dancing to country music, maintaining a garden, and being with her grandchildren.
She enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggert and ordering the next big thing from shopping networks. Johnnie was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Johnnie leaves to cherish her loving memory: Joe Gatewood, of the home; daughter Tina George and husband William of Holdenville; grandchildren Stormy George, Karley George, Kendal Logan, Kyle Logan, all of Atwood, Hailey Gatewood and Corgyn Brown of Konawa, Jonnie Mitchell and Lester Miller of Holdenville, Becca Caraway and Cody Caraway of Bowie TX; eleven great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bert & Mollie Green; four brothers: L. G. Green, Jimmy Green, Buddy Green, and Jan Green; three sisters: Gerldean Horn, Peggy Hale, and Edna Conley; her daughter, Lisa Knighton.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, 10:00am at First Church of The Nazarene in Holdenville and Johnnie was laid to rest at Crossroads Cemetery in Calvin. Rev. Larry Chesser and Rev. Tony Chesser were the officiating ministers. Pallbearers were Wayne Newnam, Wesley Rowe, Dennis Langdon, Dirl Merriman, CJ Glass, and Robert Merriman. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Merriman, Kevin Merriman, and Michael Hamilton.
